Many advanced graduate students teach summer courses in our department. With the approval of the director of graduate studies, students may apply to teach specialized courses in the Honors College. All graduate students receive thorough professional training and mentoring in research and classroom teaching.
Each year, a handful of graduate students are selected to be a graduate research assistant (GRA) in lieu of teaching for a semester. Those GRAs collaborate with a specific faculty member to carry out research. GRAs receive a stipend as if they were teaching, and the collaborative experience is intended to advance the student’s professionalization.
