Jessica is a doctoral student in Hispanic Linguistics. Originally from Pasto, Colombia, she earned a B.A. in English and French from the Universidad de Nariño and an M.A. in Linguistics from West Virginia University. Her current research interests include phonetics and phonology, though she has also conducted work in syntax and semantics. Her research primarily focuses on the Andean variety of Spanish spoken in southwestern Colombia, known as Nariñense.
