Laura Gomes is a Brazilian teacher and researcher currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Portuguese at Indiana University. She holds a Master of Arts in Literature from the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG – Brazil), where she researched the representation of the grieving mother’s voice in two contemporary Latin American theater monologues: Hilda Peña by Isidora Stevenson and Rosa Cuchillo by Yuyachkani. Her research interests include gender studies, cultural studies, and comparative literature. She also has extensive teaching experience at various levels, including undergraduate education and Portuguese as an additional language.
